THE
PRODUCTION TEAM
Stage
director: Kathy Lemerle
Kathy comes originally from a little town called Angola in New York
State. Since moving to Brussels in 1987, she has gathered loads of experience
in school productions and in Brussels amateur theatre groups both on
stage and, off. From designing and making costumes for various shows
to directing Rock Whittington for BLOC, from choreographing Kismet to
playing the Queen in the Jarrett School’s ballet production of
The Sleeping Beauty, Kathy has been around the stage more than once.
Her sense of performance guarantees an evening to remember.

Musical
Director: David Miller
Born and
educated in the United States, David lives in Brussels with his wife,
the American musician and teacher Martha Rowe, and their six children.
He considers himself an American citizen and a permanent resident of
Europe. David’s career as an opera conductor has allowed him to
travel widely, working with, amongst others Maurice Béjart, Sir
Colin Davis, and most importantly Maestro Giuseppe Sinopoli, for whom
he prepared orchestra and singers for opera productions in Dresden,
at La Scala and at the Bayreuth Festival. He has also accompanied great
singers such as José van Dam, Jane Manning, Jeannette Thompson
and Julia Migenes in recital cycles. He is now pianist at La Monnaie,
Brussels’ Royal Opera House, and vocal coach of the new Opera
Studio section of the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth. David has shared
his experience with BLOC on several productions already: Kismet, Bloc
on Broadway, HMS Pinafore, the Welcome Festival… |

Producer:
Andrea Edwards
Andrea grew up in Budapest dancing ballet, jazz, tap, and folk. Her
dancer, choreographer mother passed on the theatre bug which has become
a lifelong passion. In Belgium since 1983, Andrea first became involved
with BLOC when her sons performed in Rock Whittington. Since then she
has done box office, front of house, poster and programme design, and
recently graduated to produce the two very successful BLOC on Broadway
shows with Kathy Lemerle. Joseph is Andrea’s first main-stage
production, where she enjoys fitting together the many pieces of the
puzzle needed for a great show.

Guy
Vanhemel: Stage Manager
Guy is a native Belgian living in Sint-Niklaas with his wife and their
two lovely children. Theatre is his second home. For almost 15 years he
has worked around the country as a freelance light designer for several
theatre and dance companies. In the last 5 years he is frequently asked
to guide productions as a stage manager. He got first involved with BLOC
in 2001 as stage manager for “Kismet”. His heart liked the
group ever since… Guy likes challenges and he believes that “Any
dream will do” in theatre. |

Sue
Botterel:Assistant Stage Manager
Sue has stage managed an impressive list of productions
in the past. These include: BOB2 (BLOC), A Midsummer Night's Dream [BYTS],
A Month in the Country, Trainspotting, Road, Talking Heads & Empty
Beds, Women Behaving Badly, Blueheart [ECC], The Weir [ITG]. Her next
big production will be The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe [ECC], but
for now it's ''Go, Go, Go Joseph'' |

Eva
Goedtkindt: Make-up Team Leader
Eva is originally from Antwerp, Belgium. Her first contact with the theatre/TV-world
was 22 years ago. As an 8 year old she brought milk to the contestants
at the end of a Belgian TV show. At age 18 she started performing in theatre
shows in Antwerp. Following a beautician course in evening school she
realized she really enjoyed doing make-up. Now she can combine her interest
in theatre with make-up. This production will be the first with which
she will be helping behind the scenes. |

Jenny
Hall: Props
Jenny is as at home on the stage as she is behind the scenes. She arrived,
with her family, in Belgium 8 years ago and has been a BLOC member for
the last 2 years. Since childhood she has had a variety of interesting
principle roles on both the main stage (including Bloody Mary from ‘South
Pacific’) and the small stage (including Madame Turnadier from the
Les Miserable extract in BLOC on Broadway). She has also had success as
director/producer of several Children’s musicals at St Paul’s
Church, Tervuren. Last year Jenny found a new outlet in the form of the
BSB parents drama group, the ‘Pantoloons’ where she played
the Wicked Stepmother, Ivana Ruledeworld in ‘Cinderella’.
This year she has taken on the back stage role of Stage Manager for the
pantomime ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’. Jenny was also, recently,
involved in the BSB spring comedy show where she was the musical director
and, along with her husband John (Judah in this production), performed
Flanders and Swann songs as well as appearing as Gertrude in Tom Stoppard’s
15 minute Hamlet. |

Nick
Heenan: Box Office Manager
Nick has run the Box Office for all 3 BLOC productions this year, starting
gently with BLOC on Broadway, and just about coping with the last minute
rush to attend “Chorus First”. This experience was enough
to convince him that some serious computer support would be needed to
manage the sale of some 3100 seats for the 5 performances of Joseph. As
a result, Joseph became the first BLOC show to use a database driven Box
Office. Nick’s target was simply to keep up with incoming enquiries
and payments, even if this meant spending a few late nights at the PC
! He hopes that you have appreciated the more responsive service that
on-line bookings has made possible.

Eileen
Heenan: Parents Co-ordinator
With 50 kids in the cast you can imagine that it takes quite some effort
to keep all the parents in line, and just as committed as their kids to
a serious rehearsal schedule. Eileen was a natural “volunteer”
for the part – having two kids of her own in the show. She has effectively
made the role her own since first supporting BLOC’s production of
Kismet in 2001.

Kjeld
Jensen: Web Master and Member of "The Back Stage Boys"
Kjeld was a professional singer at the age of 11 (church coir). He took
his debut on stage as Sarastro in a school performance of Mozart's The
Magic Flute. In Brussels he has appeared as Larsen in ATC's South Pacific
in 1992. Since joining BLOC in 1994 he has performed in many of it's
main and small stage productions, mostly in the chorus. He was co-producer
of BLOC's The Swinging Sixties where he also directed an except from
Hair, and he appeared as the nightclub owner Mishka in The Gipsy Princess. |
