A SHORT DESCRIPTION: The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colours comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph is a young man with the ability to interpret dreams. He is also his father’s favourite son. When Joseph is given a gorgeous multi-colored coat, that is just too much for his jealous brothers who sell him into slavery in Egypt – telling their father that Joseph died in a fight with a wild animal. Joseph eventually ends up in an Egyptian prison, sharing a cell with 2 servants of Pharoah. Rameses has been troubled by recurring dreams and when one of Joseph’s cellmates is released, Rameses learns of Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams. Joseph’s interpretations are correct, and he saves Egypt from famine – and becomes rich and powerful in the process. The same cannot be said of his 11 brothers, who leave the starving land of Cannan and come to Egypt in search of food – not realising until the end of the musical that it is to Joseph that they are pleading for help.
