Chorus First! 3
This is the third CHORUS FIRST! show that BLOC has produced. The formula is very successful and features, of course, the chorus singing extracts for Operettas, Musicals and sometimes even Grand Opera with some solos integrated into the programme.
The show is produced in concert style with singers in evening dress, singing from the scores, and with the addition of a few hints of costume and stage direction to enliven the performance.
Our Music Director, Steven De Mesmaeker (well-known for directing the HotAir Singers) has found some wonderful melodies. The first half of the show will consist of numbers by Jacques Offenbach and Johann Strauss. Most of the programme will be sung in English, but we'll sing a couple of numbers in German and French. For the second half of the show Steven has selected a 40 minute extract from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin. For this part he would like to involve a narrator, to link the songs together.
It's going to be fun as well as a fantastic show!
