The Brussels Light Opera Company asbl
BLOC is the largest English-language musical theatre performing company in Brussels and is comprised of over 100 active members from eighteen nations. Its membership encompasses a broad spectrum of cultures, ages and professions, all sharing a love of musical theatre, working together to achieve high quality productions and enjoying varied social activities. The organization was founded in 1975 as The Brussels Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Over the next seventeen years it performed all thirteen G&S operettas (some several times), plus works by other composers, notably Offenbach. In 1992, it changed its name to embark on performing a broader range of musical theatre, including Broadway and West End shows. Among these fully staged productions with orchestra have been such well known works as Carousel, Die Fledermaus, Oklahoma!, La Vie Parisienne (in French), Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and, in November 2006, Cole Porter's Anything Goes.
